At Hammond Veterinary Services, we pride ourselves on our state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities, which allow us to provide rapid and accurate assessments of your pet’s health. With our in-house laboratory, we can perform a wide range of diagnostic tests right here in our hospital, enabling our veterinarians to diagnose many issues quickly and efficiently, often while you wait.
Our in-house laboratory is equipped to run a variety of blood tests, including evaluations of liver, kidney, and pancreatic function, complete blood counts (CBC), and electrolyte levels. These tests provide valuable insights into your pet’s overall health and can help detect underlying medical conditions such as organ dysfunction, infections, and blood disorders.
We offer heartworm testing for dogs and infectious disease testing for cats, allowing us to promptly diagnose these potentially life-threatening conditions. Early detection is key to effective treatment and management, and our rapid testing capabilities enable us to provide timely interventions for your pet’s well-being.
In accordance with the guidelines set by the American Heartworm Society, we recommend annual occult (hidden) heartworm testing for all dogs. This proactive approach helps identify heartworm infections early, allowing for timely treatment and prevention of further complications.
For kittens and cats, we recommend routine testing for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). These tests should be performed annually for all cats that have previously tested positive, go outdoors, or exhibit symptoms. Early detection of these viral infections allows us to implement appropriate management strategies and provide the best possible care for your feline companion.
As part of our commitment to preventive care, we recommend comprehensive blood work annually for all pets over the age of seven. These screenings can help identify age-related health issues, monitor organ function, and detect early signs of disease, allowing us to intervene promptly and improve your pet’s quality of life.
In addition to our in-house laboratory, we also offer digital radiology and ultrasound services to further enhance our diagnostic capabilities. These advanced imaging modalities allow us to visualize internal structures and identify abnormalities with precision, facilitating accurate diagnoses and treatment planning for your pet.
